W O R T H Y

I often ask myself am I worthy enough?
Worthy enough to walk the streets of gold that you created?
Worthy enough to be in your presence and call upon your name?
Am I worthy enough to give you honor even through my shame?
But I stand here acknowledging that you’ve kept me on this path
From the seed planted within my mother to where I am.
I could only ask am I worthy enough?
And just when I asked these questions that were weighing on me,
You told me to wait on you and I shall see that I am
That I am worthy enough because out of dirt you formed me
Like a potter with clay you molded me
Into the person I am today ... a royal priesthood, a holy nation
You called me by name and I am yours
For I am worthy enough and for that, I give you the honor and glory
I worship you for you are the ship that sails me through all seas.
I am living proof of your mercy and your love,
So no longer will I ask if I am worthy enough.

D A D S

I know you’re in a better place
But I’d give the world to see your face,
To see you smile, to see you laugh,
To hear your voice, to share your space.
To have conversations about the past
As you pass life lessons onto me along the way.
To this day I still dream of you,
Teaching me how to play the Piano.
Showing me how to change a light switch,
And explaining all that you used to do.
I think about the time when I was going away,
You took time to be by my side and in that way,
You were saying you were here to stay
So when I look to the skies I see you through the rays.
I remember the kite flying days that we shared,
Random drives in G299 are treasures I hold dear.
Supermarket runs picking up anything I wish
Now all I wish is for one last moment to tell you this.
I miss how you were towards everyone you met,
Day ones or recent acquaintances you were a joy to all of them,
But your greatest joy was entertaining your grandchildren,
With your jokes, your gaffs and just purely being Dads.
I’ve mentioned the good times of which they were many,
And when the bad times came, your light still shone brightly,
A true warrior to the end, my grandfather, my friend,
It was never goodbye but simply, I will see you again.
